10A Portable Charger vs Tesla Mobile Connector — what's the difference?
Both charge your Tesla from a wall socket at home. The main difference is how fast they can go, and what socket they need.
Tessories Portable Charger
- Plugs into a normal household powerpoint (the standard wall socket every home has).
- Charges at up to 10A.
- Simple — no special socket needed. Just plug in and go.
Tesla Mobile Connector
- Comes with two tails: 10A and 15A.
- The 10A tail works in a normal wall socket (same as above, up to 10A).
- The 15A tail charges faster, up to 15A — but it needs a 15A socket (a bigger plug, must be wired in by an electrician).
- You can also buy an optional 16A tail to charge at 16A from a blue Commando socket (the type found at campgrounds and caravan parks).
Which one should I get?
- If you only charge at home from a normal wall socket, the Portable Charger does the job and costs less.
- If you have (or plan to fit) a 15A socket, or you travel and want to use campground power, the Tesla Mobile Connector gives you faster charging and more options.
